Put on your mask, dress your children in their fancy dress costumes and join the lively procession through Radovljica.
Visit Radovljica on Shrove Saturday and be part of the colourful procession from Cankarjeva ulica to the old town centre. As well as individuals, in the procession there are groups dressed in costumes representing various scenes from beehive panels and folk tales from the residents of the 'Predtrg' area of Radovljica.
Prizes for the most original fancy dress costumes
Every year a professional jury hands out prizes for the more original fancy dress costumes. All those who would like to be included in the competition for prizes should register at the start where they will receive a start number.
The procession begins at 2pm near the junction with traffic lights in Cankarjeva ulica and ends with merrymaking in Linhart Square.
Every year the procession is led by the carnival 'mayor', and majorettes, wind orchestras and groups in themed fancy dress take part. On the route to the square other children, families and adults dressed in fancy dress join the parade.
On reaching Linhart Square, the carnival 'mayor' greets all those taking part in the procession and children in fancy dress also receive doughnuts.
