Ophelia’s Perfume and Scent Laboratory

Learn the secrets of alchemy and the history of pharmacology and cosmetics, and, during a workshop, discover your favourite essence and mix it to create your own unique perfume.

The experience begins with participants embarking on the discovery of the mysterious, more than 2,000-year-old history of pharmacy, medicine, alchemy, folk medicine, perfumery, cosmetics and mysticism. At the Pharmacy and Alchemy Museum, in the old town centre of Radovljica, you can see picturesque old pharmacies from the 18th and 19th centuries, an alchemy laboratory, an ethnological collection from Slovenian folk medicine, old books on pharmacy and alchemy, medical materials, a collection of perfume bottles, cosmetic containers, mortars, scales and various laboratory equipment. On your way through the museum, in addition to the precious collection, there are also fun points where you can test your own ‘alchemy skills’ and learn about ancient wisdom for maintaining health and youthfulness

At the workshop, you will learn about various exotic raw materials for making perfume: from various types of fragrant resin, bark, wood and incense, to aromatic herbs and essential oils from which you can make your own perfume.
