The Radovljica Festival has been taking place in August every year continually since 1983. The festival is known for its emphasis on early music, but for many years its schedule of events has also included rarely performed music from the 19th and 20th centuries, often on appropriately historic musical instruments.
The 42nd Radovljica Festival will take place from 10th to 27th August. During that period, eleven concert evenings will take place in Radovljica Manor, St. Peter’s Church and the Church of the Annunciation in Velesovo, at which a total of fifty musicians from fourteen countries will perform. As part of the festival, there will also be a recorder masterclass and a two-day international workshop, the content of which is the process from the discovery of a musical source to a public performance using examples from Koper’s musical heritage.
The Radovljica Festival is known for its emphasis on early music, but for many years it has also included rarely performed music from the 19th and 20th centuries, often on appropriate historic instruments. This year, music from Renaissance chansons to solos by Ravel and Fauré will ring out in Radovljica Manor, as well as Dhrupad, the oldest known style of traditional Indian classical music.
