Natural Attractions in Radovljica and the Surroundings
"Is there a more beautiful land than the land that is our home?", sang the pioneer of Slovenian popular folk music, Slavko Avsenik
The beautiful nature that surrounds Begunje na Gorenjskem was the inspiration for numerous songs by the Avsenik Ensemble. On the other side of the Radovljica plains are the Sava river valley and the Lipnica valley, whilst above the valley is the forested Jelovica plateau.
In Radol'ca and on its outskirts there are countless spots offering wonderful views over Gorenjska, the Julian Alps and Bled. Among them are St. Peter's church and the Smokuški vrh peak beneath the Karavanke mountains, Jamnik and Talež on the Jelovica plateau, and Lipnica Castle above the Lipnica Valley.
Head on up and enjoy the views of beautiful Gorenjska!
Alongside the Sava River, between Bled and Lesce, there is a wonderful place in nature that attracts lovers of active holidays and relaxing walks. Thanks to the pleasant environment, playgrounds and easy accessibility, the Šobec Camp and Park is popular among families with young children.
Besides the Draga stream a green valley winds it way to the foothills of the Karavanke.
The confluence of the Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjka rivers is in Lancovo below Radovljica.
The Lipnica Valley inspires with its beautiful nature and heritage of ironworking in Kropa and Kamna Gorica.
Frequently bathed in sunshine, it is wonderful when the meadows and orchards are in bloom, where, for centuries, Carniolan bees have been buzzing.
The Karavanke await you with mountain pastures and the high peaks above them which offer superb views across Slovenia and Austrian Carinthia. Ascend them in summer or in winter.
